<html> <head> <title></title> </head> <body> <p>This is a short piece on academic and activist Marcela Lagarde y de Los Ríos' contribution to the issue of homicides of women in Mexico. She coined the term <i>feminicidio,</i> which squarely placed these murders as acts of misogyny and a product of patriarchal society. Lagarde became a public servant and supported research on <i>feminicidio. </i>She played a critical role in the development adoption of Mexico's General Law for a Woman’s Access to a Life Free from Violence in 2007.</p> <p> </p> </body> </html>Pages
