Oxfam South Africa conducted a study to understand the reasons for this poverty, with lack of governance and farming infrastructure support emerging as key causes. Oxfam began an intervention focusing on women farmers, whose context was shaped by traditional social and economic practices, limiting their access to land and economic resources. Themakazi ‘Roundy’ Peter was one of the people trained under the intervention. Oxfam later collaborated with her during the pandemic towards safeguarding food security. This article discusses Oxfam South Africa’s intervention in the area and their partnership with Themakazi ‘Roundy’ Peter in response to the COVID-19 crisis.</p> </body> </html>Pages
