Case studyDescription
Chars are the small islands in the river delta of Bangladesh. The char communities in Bangladesh are extremely vulnerable to extreme climate events such as cyclones, floods, erosion and saline water intrusion, which has reduced agricultural production and employment opportunities and increased loss of assets and poverty. The Capacity Building of Ultra Poor (CUP) project built the capacity of poor farmers in climate-adaptive agriculture technologies to increase production, diversify income options and raise awareness of disaster risk reduction and climate change.
