| dc.description | This article draws on recent research by Gender Action, presented in a ground-breaking report investigating multilateral development banks' (MDBs) spending on reproductive health and HIV and AIDS. Gender Action demonstrates a decline in World Bank loans and grants for reproductive health and HIV and AIDS, and little contribution to this sector from the African Development Bank, Asian Development Bank, or Inter-American Development Bank. Mapping also charts unmet MDB commitments to reproductive health and HIV and AIDS, and harmful loan conditions such as restricting public spending, which undermine poor countries' ability to address these key public-health issues.
