Feminist advocacy is concerned with ending injustices throughout the world by advancing women's rights. It has various uses and manifestations, from lobbying strategies at the World Trade Organisation ministerial meetings to the reform of gender-discriminatory policies. Feminist advocacy strategies can be infused with the daily work of individuals and organisations to ensure that work is maximised and targeted to changing key decision-making processes and policies that infringe on women's rights. This article describes the uses, misuses, and challenges of feminist advocacy. It offers tips and useful questions to ask, and describes strategies to be incorporated into current and future work. This article is hosted by our co-publisher Taylor & Francis.
