DescriptionThis article outlines why the 'Women's Environment and Development Organisation' (WEDO) was formed, in the context of the end of the Cold War and worsening environmental degradation. WEDO organises women's caucuses to ensure that the UN addresses the needs of women worldwide. Another major success of caucuses is their inclusion of grassroots women and newly formed women's networks. They are popular, democratic, and effectively empower women. This article is hosted by our co-publisher Taylor & Francis.
