Oxfam's 'Women Linking for Change Conference' aimed to make Southern women's needs central to its programmes. This article explains how. The conference's methodology was designed and implemented by Southern women. 'Cycles' to share information made the conference participatory rather then hierarchical. There were three cycles with clear objectives for each, as well as panel discussions, a cultural night and role-plays. Southern regions and Oxfam have issued formal commitments to gender in development and to each other. Participants provided feedback about how well the methodologies had worked, to shape learning for future conferences. This article is hosted by our co-publisher Taylor & Francis.
