Description
The World Bank is changing its personnel and policies to reflect its commitment to mainstreaming gender in all its work. Women's empowerment is vital for long term economic growth, higher living standards and environmental sustainability. The Bank believes that removing barriers to women's health and productivity will allow women to participate in income generating labour, which can lift entire families out of poverty. The Bank and its most important partners, member Governments, are incorporating these beliefs into programmes and policies in several developing countries.
