This article examines how women use natural resources in urban and rural areas; how women's interests have been harmed by environmental changes; and how they are responding. Although women cultivate the land for food and to earn a living intensive farming methods damage soil fertility, making women more prone to poverty. However women's groups are forming around the issue of land and other resources - water, forests (energy), and urban projects. These groups aim to resist environmentally harmful policies, offer alternatives, and protect the status of women. This article is hosted by our co-publisher Taylor & Francis.
