EnglishDescription
The author is a female relief worker who has seen first-hand how women are more vulnerable than men to natural disasters, and in their aftermath. She explores why women are more likely to die in environmental disasters, and why emergency relief aid often fails to benefit women. Begum makes recommendations for ensuring that women's needs are taken into account when planning and delivering relief work. This article is hosted by our co-publisher Taylor & Francis.
