Description
What opportunities are there, within Primary Health Care (PHC) programmes, for village communities to participate in the process of conceiving, constructing, and maintaining their own health facilities? This article looks at three PHC projects in Sierra Leone and Uganda, involving NGOs, governments, and host communities in the construction of health buildings. From these case studies, the author identifies issues which require monitoring and evaluation within PHC programmes aiming to promote community involvement in the process of producing and sustaining village-level health buildings.<p>This article is hosted by our co-publisher Taylor & Francis.</p>
