Description
Men carried out Mozambique’s drought relief effort almost exclusively and NGOs like Oxfam should be wary of designing policies based solely on what they see and hear in emergency situations. Women in Mozambique are more affected than men, but are silent and invisible, when they should be central to relief policies. Greet shows why women's needs in emergencies are not being met, even when organisations' policies show a commitment to doing so. Her overall conclusion is that we are failing to build on women's strengths by involving them in the emergency response at all stages.
