Description

They Made Me Brave: Reflections on women in leadership at CHoiCe Trust (CHoiCe) and the HIV/AIDS Prevention Group (HAPG) came out of a brief from Oxfam to 'collect and publish the stories of leadership emerging from the program and is intended to build on insights into successful leadership models in development'; in this instance, women in development. CHoiCe Trust (CHoiCe) and HIV/AIDS Prevention Group (HAPG), the organizations which participated in this process, are both run by women.

The primary mandate of the writer was to explore leadership styles and how they have worked (through stories, anecdotes, experiences, applications) in HAPG and CHoiCe. Gender is an important aspect of program design for the Australian Partnerships with African Communities Program, and given that women play a significant role in both programs, it was important to consider this perspective in the process.
