Description
The EU is a group of rich countries characterized by high incomes, stable institutions, and home to 342 billionaires. It is also where 123 million people are at risk of poverty. Inequality is an unacceptable injustice; inequality in the EU is discussed in Oxfam's policy briefing '<a href="http://policy-practice.oxfam.org.uk/publications/a-europe-for-the-many-not-the-few-time-to-reverse-the-course-of-inequality-and-575861">A Europe For the Many, Not the Few</a>'. By drawing on available data on inequality, this report provides the empirical foundation of the briefing. We invite you to dig into the data, both in this paper, in the Excel data file and the <a href="http://policy-practice.oxfam.org.uk/our-work/inequality/a-europe-for-the-many?cid=rdt_euinequality">online data tool</a>, to take a closer look at inequality in EU countries - its trends, causes and consequences.
