Description
This article focuses on the lessons, challenges, and successes Oxfam has observed while working on the ‘Triangle’ of quality education, gender justice, and sexual and reproductive health. The article argues that linking education, gender, and sexual and reproductive health can be effective. However, to ensure we work effectively and sustainably on the Triangle, we need to address a range of particular issues. These include focusing on cultural taboos; involving young women and men, and other key stakeholders in substantial and meaningful ways; emphasising monitoring, evaluation and learning, particularly measuring changes in programme participants' behaviour; and understanding gender mainstreaming in development as transformative.
