Description
Oxfam's Cotton-Textile Supply Chain (CTSC) programme in India is based on the knowledge that poor communities are connected to each other by supply chains. Through them, poor people can enhance their power in the market, resulting in higher incomes, better control of working conditions and more control over their lives. A multi stakeholder collaborative project was launched in September 2003 with the main objective of 'Enhancing Power in Markets for the Poor engaged in Cotton - Textile Supply Chain', building on previous work of Oxfam-Cividep partnership started in 2002. The project envisioned increasing the income, bargaining power and control over markets for both male and female workers engaged in the production process and in handloom business. By enhancing their scale of operation in the markets, the project aimed at socio-political empowerment of these producer communities. This 2007 final evaluation focused on reviewing the programme's results, context and potential for scale-up.
