Description
Economic Growth with Equity looks at the lessons to be learned from the East Asian countries which managed to combine economic growth with equity. It examines the social policies which enabled the benefits of growth and prosperity to be widely shared, though not by all. There are many who have been excluded from the general improvements in living standards, and the current financial turmoil in the region raises serious questions about whether the success, in terms of poverty reduction, can be maintained in future.
