Description
This article recounts experiences of Oxfam's 'Women's Linking Project' (WLP). This has evolved from organising at regional level, to raising the profile of gender as a development issue in North and South. One main aim is to integrate a Southern understanding of gender into Northern policies. Two current priorities for WLP are examined in this article. Firstly, how to show citizens and policy makers in the North that their actions harm people in the South. Secondly, how to get issues in the personal sphere taken seriously, such as domestic violence. Oxfam must work with other organisations to put gender considerations firmly on the development agenda. This article is hosted by our co-publisher Taylor & Francis.
