Description
Relegated by Indian culture and traditions to a position of inferiority, women remain shackled by lack of access to education and health care, increasing unemployment and the deficiencies of their legal status. Burdened at home and exploited at work, women are India's vast "invisible" labour force - yet they have been virtually by-passed by Indian development programmes. This book explains why and suggests practical changes to ensure the effectiveness of future programmes.
