Description
The ongoing conflict in the east of the Democratic Republic of the Congo has been described as one of the world's worst humanitarian crises. It is a war mainly fought out with small arms. The resulting humanitarian crisis continues to be fuelled by new supplies of arms, brought in by businessmen or by soldiers belonging to the foreign armies present in the region. This report examines the role of small arms and armed groups in this crisis, looking in detail at the north-eastern part of DRC, paying particular attention to the health and educational impact of the conflict.
