<p>A large amount of the international development funding for women’s rights and gender justice goes to supporting women’s representation and leadership in formal decision-making bodies. This support is often about strengthening their technical skills. However, much more is needed to support women engaged in work that is stressful, often abusive and violent, and may even be dangerous. This article is written by two feminists working at the intersection between social justice, international development, and personal development. We show how transformative practices rooted in feminist and social justice worldviews can help sustain and support feminist women to lead development. At a collective and organisational level, these practices also have potential to help transform development in line with feminist commitments to collective action, reflexivity, equity, and justice.</p>
