Description
Far from being the 'clean technology' it is hailed as, micro-electronics manufacturing is seriously harming the health of employees, their families, and the local environment. Most micro-electronic workers are young women, mainly in South-East Asia but also in the US, Mexico, Thailand and Scotland. This article uncovers the health risks to which workers are exposed. It asks what measures they, activists, and environmentalists can take against micro-electronic filter companies. It is vital that research in Southern countries is supported, and that research done in the North is made available to women's groups in the South.
