Description
Women play a substantial role in large-scale and plantation farming. But back-breaking work and the use of toxic pesticides can seriously harm their health. 'PAN Asia and the Pacific' organised a workshop in Malaysia for women to discuss this problem. The article outlines background information about women's agricultural work in Asia. It also presents the Serdang Declaration, which arose from the Malaysian workshop and offers practical alternatives to pesticide use.
