Description
Brazil is the fifth-largest country in the world, with an economy bigger than China's and a population larger than Russia's. It is rich in natural resources, and its cities are highly industrialised. It is a wealthy country - but in terms of human development it is one of the most unequal countries in the world. One quarter of its people struggle to survive on an income of less than one dollar a day.
