<p>Mainstreaming is thinking and acting about HIV and AIDS in all programmes (and considering both staff and beneficiaries). The term refers to adjusting humanitarian programmes to ensure they take into consideration causes of vulnerability that are or may be related to HIV infection and the consequences of AIDS during such responses. </p> <p>This paper explains why, where and how mainstreaming is done.</p>
